Description
Dried figs are rich in vitamins A, B, C and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and iron. Additionally, dried figs contain a high amount of dietary fiber which helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides, as they cleanse and detoxify the body. The water in the dietary fibers makes figs easily digestible, while their ability to bind cholesterol absorbed from other foods results in removing it from the body before it is absorbed, ultimately keeping it at low levels. It is also worth mentioning the high calcium content of dried figs. Due to their strong laxative effect, they are used in pharmacology as a natural plant-based laxative compared to other chemical preparations.
